Samoa Speedway Registration Open

Troop 5857 invites you to join in our first Samoa Speedway Race Day! November 4, 2023.


All Girl Scout Levels and Adults are invited to participate. This is a great He & Me or She and Me event for younger levels. Bring a buddy and get an extra patch.

Race Day: November 4th

Time: 10am to 4pm; Race times for levels will be posted according to the number of racers registered per level.

Location: Bolboa Cabin 2 or St. Andrews on Glen Street, La Mesa (final location will be published soon).

Registration includes:

$25 per Racer Daisy, Brownie, Junior Levels - 1 Pinewood Derby Car Kit, Fun Patch, Digital Download of Automotive Engineering Badge Booklet, 1 Special Award Voting Ticket, 1 food/drink ticket (good for 1 item on event day). Daisy, Brownie and Junior levels include steps to earn all three Automotive Engineering Badges (physical badges not included).

$20 per Racer Cadette, Senior, Ambassador, Adult - 1 Pinewood Derby Car Kit, Fun Patch, 1 Special Award Voting Ticket

Car kits must be picked up and built prior to the event. Car weigh-in and inspection will occur 1 week before the event. Non-complying cars will have 3 days to fix issues before re-check. Location for car inspection will be emailed after registration.

Awards will include:

Grand Finals - race between the top 2 winners from all Program Levels.

Races by Girl Scout Program Level - races open to all registered Girl Scouts.

Renegade Races - races for Troop Leaders and adults (Must follow the Official Race Rules).

Design Categories - these categories will be solely based on car appearance:

  • Girl Scout Spirit Car

  • Wildest Car Design

  • Cutest Car Design

  • Best Animal Car

  • People’s Choice - receives the most participant vote tickets.

Non-racing registered adults are free. Please limit to required chaperones.

This is a bring a buddy event. Please invite non-Girl Scout girls to register.

All racers must follow the Official Event Rules posted below.

Chaperone Requirement: Safety Wise Ratios Required, THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF EVENT.


Rules All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race, see detailed specifications below:

  1. Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.

  2. Length shall not exceed 7 inches.

  3. Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.

  4. Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit.

  5. Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.

  6. No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.

  7. The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.

  8. The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.

  9. No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.

  10. Cars must be substantially built by the Girl Scout participating. Younger girls can direct parents on the design and build as a She/He/They and me team.
