Calling all Daisy through Senior troops!
Girl Scouts graduating to adults are as rare as unicorns. La Mesa Service Unit troops are invited to participate in our adoption event for our 16 Graduating Girl Scouts.
The purpose of “adopting” a graduating Girl Scout is to celebrate her years of service to Girl Scouts. We want to honor each Girl Scout’s accomplishments, uplift their spirits and bring them joy.
Adopting Troops will be provided with a Graduating Girl Scout biography and a list of their favorite things. Troops are encouraged to do the following:
Contact your Graduating Girl Scout’s parent for specific girl likes.
Make lawn poster, small treats and cards.
Arrange a socially distant meeting with your Graduating Girl Scout to drop off their goodies. This meeting can be a surprise coordinated through the parent if you choose.
Join the end of year celebration to introduce their Graduating Girl Scout as she bridges to adulthood.
Timeline:
May 5th - Troops and Graduation Girl Scouts will be informed of their match.
May 15th - Troops should reach out to their Graduating Girl Scout’s parent to schedule their meetup. Please choose an outdoor space or the front yard of your Graduating Girl Scout.
June - Post a photo of your troop and your Graduating Girl Scout to the LMSU facebook group or website.
Prepare an introduction for your Graduating Girl Scout if she is attending the end of the year bridging ceremony. Introduction should be kept to 1 minute or less.
June 26th - End of year La Mesa Service Unit Ceremony.
